Thirteen

Let faith that shields me from the fray
Hold me ever in its light
That the darkness will not stay
And I may see in darkest night.

Let hope that sings in icy land
When all is lost to white and grey
And makes the battered here to stand
When others die to lose their way.

Let love that holds a frightened child
With its magic safe embrace
Speak of peace when I grow wild
And keep me in a better place.
