On the Submissions of Poems on Unity.

It has been brought to my attention that I did not give a date for the submission deadline… (this is where I roll my eyes). Since that is actually true (I checked) I am changing the submission deadline to next Thursday (April 19th, 2012). I will have them up by sometime on the following Monday (April 23rd, 2012). Please forgive any confusion I may have caused (more eye-rolling). If you have already submitted a poem (Thank you, the few I have gotten are very interesting) please be patient as another week will pass before it gets posted. Cheers to everyone.

(e-mail submissions to: asoulswalk@lavabit.com
expect a response via said e-mail after you send your submission- if you do not get one in a day or two leave a comment on the blog to make sure I received your submission)

On The “Poetic Gathering”

For those of you participating in the “little gathering,” I have a few details.

You have until Thursday morning to submit your poems to me. I will not tell you what time zone I may or may not be in on Thursday or what time I generally get up in the morning… but if you submit your poem by Wednesday night (anywhere in the world) you should be fine.

Submit poems via e-mail to:

asoulswalk@lavabit.com

I will have all the poems up by sometime on Monday (it obviously depends on how many poems I receive and what the conditions are like in the mountains).

It occurs to me that this whole thing is a bit confusing to talk about without a name. I have one. I will hold onto it for now. If I like how the whole thing goes I will divulge the name and perhaps do the whole thing again.

I look forward to reading everyone’s poem on the subject of Unity. I hope you all look forward to reading each other’s poems as well. Cheers.

The Readers Answered

Since the response to my question was swift, voluminous, and positive I have decided to “hold a little gathering.”

First: we will vote on a topic (there will be three days to vote from the time of this post).

Second I will accept submissions (there will be a week for you to compose or select a poem of your own creation).

Third I will post submissions for everyone else to read, experience, and discuss (if desired).

The topics to vote on are:

1) Earthday
2) Easter
3) Unity

Thank you to jhasmoments for the topic suggestions. To Vote, leave a comment (on this post) with one of the above three topics. I will announce the winning topic after three days and then everyone (myself included) can begin composing their poems (or sifting through your archives for just the right one).

There are very few rules. I am not in the habit of censoring– but if your poem is controversial you should be prepared to enter a discussion about it (a civil discussion, mind you). The only real rule is that the poem must be your own (meaning you wrote it). That is all. Let the voting begin…

A Question to the readers…

I was thinking about getting a group of poets together and having someone pick a topic for all of us to write a poem about. I would then post all the poems on this blog. I think it might be interesting. Now if you are a writer but have not written much poetry (or any) this does not mean that you should not consider it. If anyone is interested leave a comment below.
